How do I register for the NCE?

How do I register for the NCE?
- You must go through NBCC (National Board Certified Counselors) to register for the NCE.

- NBCC "owns" the test and is the only way to register for the NCE.
- Once you set up an account through NBCC you can select the many options of sites for taking the NCE.
- No. Of course NBCC would love to grow their ranks and add to the professional lobbying and advocacy power of our profession in the field of counseling, but, becoming an NCC is optional and is not mandatory for taking the NCE.
- Yes, passing the NCE is a requirement for becoming an LPC.
- No.
- These are separate credentials.
- LPC is a licensure.
- NCC is a certification.
- Both require passing the NCE among other requirements.
- You MUST have an LPC to practice as a fully licensed counselor in the State of Michigan.
- NCC is an optional credential that adds to your ability to market yourself, seek promotions, and validate your experience.
- School counselors: You must have a valid license to practice school counseling in the State of Michigan.
- A school counselor license is issued through the Department of Education.
- Obtaining an LPC is something separate and additional you can do to also practice in private practice or a clinic.
- You can be board certified through NBCC in School Counseling.
- You can be board certified through NBCC in Clinical Counseling.
